So far, all our songs have been written and performed in English. We simply wanted to reach an international audience, and somehow this worked out. This time we opted for a change, and in order to refresh our well-established formula, we decided to do something in our mother tongue. This turned out to be a good idea and some of our future lyrics will certainly be written in Polish.
Polish is a pretty difficult language, and therefore it’s a good idea to learn from those, who have truly mastered it. Mr. Lech Janerka, a renowned vocalist, bassist and composer, also happens to be one of the finest and most original lyricists in our country. He began his musical journey in the early 1980s, leading an influential post-punk/new wave band Klaus Mitffoch. Their eponymous debut album (1985) has received several awards and is universally recognized as one of the greatest achievements in the history of Polish rock music. Following the band’s breakup, Mr. Janerka has continued with a successful solo career, becoming one of the most respected Polish artists.
The song “Opar” (“Fume”) is featured on Mr. Janerka’s excellent solo album “Dobranoc” (“Goodnight”), released in 1997. The idea to cover it came from our singer & guitarist Łukasz, who is a lifelong fan of Mr. Janerka. Łukasz simply said that it was a must, and when he sets his mind on something, arguing is futile. So we arranged and played the song, adding some new motifs and parts, and trying to make it our own. Hopefully the Maestro will appreciate our efforts.
lyrics
Co mnie tak rozpiera
I dokąd to mnie gna
I czemu tak uwiera
We wszystkich nożach
Jest mądrość Boża
I w samopałach zapewne też
I stąd niepewność
Ma niezbyt mała
Czy aby w tym jest grubszy sens
Coś mnie wali w głowę
Nie daje spać
To pewnie jakaś nowa broń
A może opar nie wiem skąd
A nad wieżami niebo
A nad tym niebem tło
A nad tym tłem ogromnym
Wszechświat i to z czego jest całe zło
Co mnie tak rozpiera
I dokąd to mnie gna
I czemu tak uwiera
Na wszystkich rogach
Cytują Boga
I ciekaw jestem co na to Bóg
Czy dalej kocha ludzi
Jak głosi slogan
Czy tylko się uśmiecha wzniecając kurz
Coś mnie wali w głowę
Nie daje spać
To pewnie jakaś nowa broń
A może opar nie wiem skąd
Nie wiem
A nad wieżami niebo
A nad tym niebem tło
A nad tym tłem ogromnym
Wszechświat i to z czego jest całe zło
